Rhine Falls
Published Wednesday, June 18, 2008 by Beth in SwitzerlandThe Rhine Falls are the largest plain falls in Europe. They were also the first "big" falls that I had ever seen. When we arrived at the platform entrance to the falls you could feel the spray in the air!! The day was already a little drizzly, but we hardly noticed. There were little daredevil boats which took you to the base of the fall, then dropped you off at the big rock in the middle of the falls!! You could climb up the stairs and view the falls super close. You can see this in the 7th pic down. This was definatly my favorite trip so far! We could of spent all day here, if we lost the rude tourists!!
Here are a few links for more info about the falls. http://www.about.ch/cantons/schaffhausen/rheinfall/index.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhine_Falls
On our way out we saw some kids drinking out of the fountain like this. We are not too sure it was completely safe, but the water is directly from the Alps, so we took the chance.
(It was delicious!)
